Yesterday I went on a shopping trip with my mother to a bit north of here (far northern Illinois) to a small town filled with old Victorian houses. The date of the house was usually on a plaque, that also listed what the house had been used for originally. I love old houses and it reminded me of when we went to Massachusetts when I was 13:-) Autumn seemed like the perfect atmosphere to go, but it wasn't cold at all. I hope to go there again really soon. There were lovely fountains and ducks and ponds and all sorts of things in addition to the cute little shops/houses, but I had no idea where it was we were going or what it would be like, so I didn't bring a camera!!:( I hope to go back sometime soon, and I will definitely post pictures if I can!
We went there to look for a unique birthday gift for my uncle, who has a surprise birthday party this weekend. We ended up getting him a cast iron birdbath in the shape of a giant leaf with a little fairy girl sitting on it!:-) A lot of the stores had very cute fairy-related things, actually! I didn't think I should buy anything, but my mother thought I should since it was not a place we usually go. So I bought a few gifts, which I can't discuss here yet:-) I also bought myself an Amy Brown fairy print and a cute little wooden "potion"-type bottle that says "starlight." They had all kinds of words written on the bottles, a lot of which were really mundane and stupid-sounding to me (calories? ashes of ex-boyfriends?? Ick!). Starlight was my favorite, though there were a few other nice ones:-D
Unfortunately I can't find the title of the painting of my Amy Brown print:-( If anyone happens to know, please let me know! I did find the names of some of the other prints I saw in the fairy store.
( Picture of my Fairy Print and Picture of my Starlight Potion! )I also have new, bright sweeping fabric for drapes from IKEA to put up in my living room, and a new bookcase. I don't think I've posted any remotely recent pictures of my bedroom here, either, and how it is decorated... Someday I will get around to doing that!
