I just found out the television series from the early 1990's is on dvd! At least the first two seasons. I really want to buy them but I shouldn't spend the money now. Blossom was one of the many (most) television series I wasn't allowed to watch, but I watched some of it in reruns. As some may know, I have a house obsession and I adored the set they used to be Blossom's house. I wrote about it years ago in an entry on my favorite television "houses." I also love the theme song and just downloaded it. I used to have it when I copied songs from a cd of television theme songs but I lost all the music on my computer. Actually, it's probably still on my laptop... Anyways, when I have the chance, I really want to buy this series! I added it to my amazon wishlist. I hope I will have the willpower to resist until at least after Anime Central, where I will probably spend some (not a lot) money.

Wow! I'd forgotten all about Blossom. Why weren't you allowed to watch it? It seems like I wasn't either, but I don't remember...

My parents were very strict. I wasn't allowed to see most non-children programs.

Mine too. There was a lot I didn't get to see.

Just curious, as we haven't known each other that long, but why weren't you allowed to watch it? What other shows couldn't you watch?

I couldn't watch most non-children shows because my father thought women would go out and copy what they saw in the media. I don't know most of what was on the air from when I was younger...

Copy what they saw in the media?

Were you brought up in a very conservative or religious household? Just curious. When did you start to watch more TV? Feel free not to answer.

My father was raised Catholic, but really it was more his paranoia and mental illness than anything. I watched tv since I was born, just children's programs mostly.

For instance, once when I was 6 or 7 my father saw me watching Mork and Mindy and they were at a rollerskating rink but he screamed at me/punished me for watching porn. He was just really crazy. I have PTSD from my childhood.

Yeah. I was going to say my parents are Catholic and I was raised Catholic, but stuff like that was never a problem and aside from a few rather tame movies, I was never told not to watch something that I can remember.

I can believe the PTSD, especially if he thought Mork and Mindy was anything like porn. *hug*

I never saw that show.

I always liked the house on Joan of Arcadia.

I *vaguely* recall it but I would probably need to bring up a clip or something.
