Once upon a time there was a princess kept in a tower of a castle by her father, the king. The king could be loving and charming and many of his people adored him, but he also could be cruel and paranoid. He thought women were evil and kept his daughter and wife trapped in the castle alone. Sometimes a monster would overtake the king and make him do horrible things. The princess watched the world pass her by by looking out her window. She wrote and painted and drew to keep herself busy and express herself when she was not allowed to do so in words.

Eventually the king's magic powers faded and he died, finally allowing the queen and princess to be free. There was also a prince who was never held captive but worked as the king's lackey. He tried to trap and control the queen and princess after the king died, but he had limited power and the queen and princess were able to enter into the world again.

The princess was very innocent and had no experience with people so when she entered the world, posing as an ordinary peasant, many young men took advantage of her. She loved very sincerely and wanted to help people, but often her trust was betrayed. Nevertheless, she did not lose her trust in people and continued to love. She most loved a young wizard passing through town, and while he seemed to love her back, he also cast a spell on her to make her his slave. The princess succumbed to the spell, not knowing she possessed the power to cast off the spell and see the wizard for the underhandedness he really possessed. When he left for more wanderings, making more girls fall in love with him, the princess mourned greatly and became gravely ill.

She went into the woods sickly one day, sure it was time for her to die. The queen no longer knew what to do to help and was sure the princess brought this sickness on herself, though she also could not stand the wizard for his cruel curse. The princess didn't die, though -- instead she met a unicorn who purified her with his horn. She was no longer filled with obsession and despair. She no longer felt tainted. She was virginal again and strong, and though at times it was difficult, she stayed well and started a new life. She fell in love with a simple peasant and lived a peaceful life with him where they went on adventures together. The queen and princess developed a closer relationship and even the prince was more kind. No longer did they dwell in that castle -- no longer were they recognized as royalty -- now living ordinary lives in a small town. However, they still possessed royal blood that gave them strength and integrity. When they were most themselves they were truly a queen, princess, and prince. Though there would always be problems and imperfections, they had the potential to live happily ever after. No long were any of them cursed by kings or wizards or any other powerful figure.
