I prefer text messaging because I'm not good at thinking up things to say on the spot and making conversation flow, etc. Also sometimes it overloads me to talk on the phone, just by listening even. Speaking can be taxing and sometimes I feel like my words are all jumbled. Text messaging gives me more time to respond (though I always respond as soon as I notice I have a message). I am also more comfortable and feel I make more sense in writing as opposed to talking.

Yes, that's me exactly! Even when Sheri and I are in the same room together, it's easier for me to type something on the computer or phone and show it to her, than actually say something to her. I so wish businesses responded to emails as quickly as they do to phone calls.

I totally know this feeling.

I prefer written communication, as well, for most of the same reasons.

I, too, prefer texting to talking. Processing spoken language just doesn't come as naturally for me as processing written language-- and when I'm particuarly tired, generating spoken language sometimes goes out the (metaphorical) window as well.

Also, written words stay there, at least for a while. Spoken ones are ephemeral, and often fade away before I've even managed to process them.

I prefer writing.

Texting gets on my nerves because I can never express myself adequately and the phone and I have a love/hate relationship.

It's true you can only say so much in texting.

I actually prefer speaking. It seems more expedient in a variety of ways. Though, I think I am something of a good conversationalist so am confident at doing so. I also prefer the expression of emotion in voice. Text can be inorganic and lifeless if one does not imbue it with some nuance(s) to properly display convey emotion or motive. I consider spoken communication a recreational activity. I think the spontaneity of speaking adds a flavor to conversing. Though, there are times when neither words nor text are expressed quick enough to keep up with my thoughts. However, I do sometimes pause before answering to collect my thoughts.

I'm much better at writing than speaking. And I hate talking on the phone to most people. But at the same time my phone is a bit primitive, making it a pain in the ass to compose a text message (I can't do predictive mode), so I sometimes break down and want to talk instead.
