A Prayer
I pray to you prostrated
But I am floating away
A little more each day
The world closes around me
A cube instead of a sphere
A tightly-wrapped gift box
Full of surprises
I tread water to escape this mess
I want this evil washed and rinsed
I want to be cleansed
Pure again as I was with him
We made each other holy
In your absence, at your whim
But I know in the cosmos
You reign everywhere--
Far beyond place or time
When I retreat to live a life bare
You await my homecoming.
No depression can undo love
And no love is greater than yours
For I have been gifted webs
Of ecstasy by your touch
Floating, glowing lantern lights
Swirling in our universal carousel
In which even the little ant doth dwell
Do not worry
I may be slow --
But I will return.
