How do I make sure a cd-r of images can be read by both pc and mac computers? Are jpegs readable by both? I have a pc. Thank you, anyone who answers!

Pretty sure whomever wrote the form is probably highly uneducated on Macintoshes, because I work on a Macintosh and have since I was 15. They read all file types. Even ones they don't initially read, I've found programs to get them to be read. Basic document files, such as .doc, .rtf, .gif, .pfd, .psd, .jpg, .png... all read by them.

A lot of people act like Macintoshes are behind or something, by 10 years. They're not, really... if anything they're totally ahead of PCs. My PC right now I can't even get on for longer than 5 minutes w/o a spyware ad popping up...

It may actually be referring to the type of disc they burn, rather than the files.

Atleast on the macs at my school, there was an option to burn a Mac and PC compatible disk or Mac only compatible, and it's something you have to be careful of if you're on a Mac but need to use the CD in a PC, as well.

That could be true, but I have actually NEVER found any disc compatibility problems. I've found FLOPPY compatibility problems (however, that's from very old versions of Macintosh- my iMac G5 doesn't even have a floppy slot), and I found problems with burning a DVD+R as a DVD file (you can put files on it, but can't make a DVD you can play on a DVD player). However, my version of Macintosh is a previous operating system, and this problem with burning DVD player compatible DVD+Rs was fixed in later versions.

I just found the entire question rather odd, sorry if I sounded rude. I have a problem realising not everyone knows these things about computers. It seems a little inconceivable to me anyone could not know a simple .jpg file would work on both a Mac and a PC- I don't mean that in a mean way at all, because it is definitely plausible. Not very many people are educated on Macs. I imagine that's how real knowledgeable computer people (you know, the major geeks. I have a lot of knowledge and could be considered a geek by certain terms, but I don't know much of scripting and programming- not enough patience) feel about me, though... (:

and I apologize to [livejournal.com profile] unico_love if I sounded demeaning, it was not intentional. ^^

Are cd-R's both compatible? Because that's what I'm supposed to use...
