Not that it pertains to your train of thought, but true love definitely doesn't cast out fear in the case of loving one's children. True love is the natural companion of fear, then. The one consuming fear is that you will live to bury your own children, rather than the natural passage of them burying you.
Come to think of it, I think all true love may come with the natural fear of losing the loved one to the great beyond. Even if you can't argue with circumstances, some may simply suck more than others.
