Morning Anxiety

I wake in a heated frenzy
Morning brings not peace
But flustering, feverish thoughts
Ruminations on a roller coaster
What appears to be a permanent curse
But what I pray can end
Someday with some magic blessing
While I love
I also demand
Wanting everything at once
With depth of the descent
From any mountaintop
Put aside those wretched wishes
That can never come true
Because the past cannot be undone
My mistakes rest with me
Whirling about in ancient patterns
I would let them go free
If I knew how to move forth
A new day and a new life
Saying goodbye when
Goodbye must be said
Instead I sit slovenly
Stuck in my motorized mind
Hoping for more
Than what I have now
