Living Life Without Regrets
I've been looking at the site tinybuddha.com a lot lately, and I liked this list and will try to apply it to my life. What is bolded in the list comes from the site.

40 Ways to Live Life Without Regrets
by Jenny Nichols
“The saddest summary of life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.” ~ Unknown
Here is a list of 40 things you can do to practice living life with no regrets:
1. Realize that it’s okay to make mistakes. Just make sure to learn from your past mistakes, forgive yourself and move on.
I've been thoughtless in realizing how my depressions affect other people and exposed them to things that are scary and worrisome. I lash out at people when I'm scared and/or upset and hurt people's feelings. I don't let go of people when relationships go bad.
2. Make your health and wellness a top priority and always take care of yourself so you’re ready to take care of others.
I have a tendency to not take care of myself physically very well and I don't eat as healthy as I should (I need more fiber!) I have to learn to separate myself from others when they are a negative influence on me.
3. Follow your own path—not one that others want you to follow.
Sometimes I feel guilty about my lifestyle, not working, etc., but even though I don't work there are good things for me to do, some of them even being important things. I can try hard and make the best of my life, even if other people don't understand my life.
4. Find the humor in life and laugh like there is no tomorrow.
Michael makes me laugh, but sometimes I'm too serious and brooding.
5. Relax and move with the flow of life by being unafraid of change.
I'm desperately afraid of change and generally hate it. I dwell on things and have too much nostalgia. I'm a tense person and have to learn to be more easygoing.
6. Be adventurous by trying new things and taking more risks.
I don't usually try new things -- especially independently. I have to get over my fears.
7. Have more intellectual curiosity and embrace creativity.
I should get back to reading, writing, and painting more.
8. Try to find happiness with as many different people as you can.
Look for the best in people, see the gifts people have to offer, and enjoy being with people. Don't criticize too often.
9. Think for yourself instead of letting other people’s opinions influence you too much.
Do what I think is best, even if it's controversial, though think things through first.
10.Try not to judge people before you get to know them.
Be more open-minded and less convinced my way is the right way.
11. Be thankful for what you have now instead of thinking about what you don’t have.
Focus on the wonderful things in my life (free time, Michael, my mother, LiveJournal, my true friends, the fun things I get to do, etc.) instead of my people problems and envying others.
12. Wish well upon everyone equally and try to admire without envy.
Even people I have trouble with, wish them all, and enjoy how good some people are at things without feeling inferior.
13. Share your happiness with others instead of hoarding it all for yourself.
Be outgoing with my happiness and try to spread it.
14. Don’t try to change someone—love who they are now.
I often try to change certain characteristics of loved ones when I just have to accept they are who they are and love them for it.
15. Enjoy the journey, not just the destination.
Focus on each moment and the joy it brings instead of ignoring the present to imagine a better future. Make the present better proactively.
16. Know that happiness is bigger than any bank account.
Be thankful I have enough money to pay for what I need and don't fall into the trap of thinking I'd be happier with more money.
17. Control negative thoughts so that they don’t contribute to the outcome of your life.
Get my obsessions under control and learn to soothe my anger and resentment.
18. Use your energy wisely because spending energy complaining, worrying or being impatient is just wasted energy.
I worry way too much and have to get my anxiety under control. I should be patient with people, as I want people to be patient with me. I should try to actively change things I like instead of complaining and accept people instead of complaining about aspects of themselves that probably won't change.
19. Be bold. Find the courage to change things that should be changed and accept that there are some things that cannot be changed.
Use my resources to make positive changes in my life and be generous and giving. However, know I can only make a small dent in things outside myself.
20.Love your work. If you don’t currently love what you do, figure out what you would love, and take the first step toward that life.
Do more painting and writing, in the styles I enjoy doing them. Try to do them often so I feel like I'm accomplishing something and because creative activities soothe me.
21.Turn your discontent into a mystery and enjoy trying to solve it.
Don't think my problems or negative feelings are permanent and actively try to improve my life.
22. Face problems from different angles in order to find solutions.
Try to imagine different perspectives than my own, which can be rigid.
23. Gain independence by realizing that on this earth we are all dependent upon each other.
Be aware of how much I need to rely on others and be grateful for all they provide for me.
24. Change your perspective by taking on a wider view of things.
Try to see the "big picture" instead of hyperfocusing on something and giving myself a skewed perspective that is often filled with unnecessary desperation or negativity.
25. Don’t waste time trying to bring disagreeable people around to liking you.
Accept some people won't like me or are bad for me due to their negativity and insensitivity.
26. Become the person you would like to spend the rest of your life with.
Be kinder, gentler, more forgiving, more diplomatic, more understanding, more fun, and less worrisome and critical.
27. Be honest with yourself and others by saying what you mean and meaning what you say.
Be honest as often as possible, as clear as possible, and fulfilling my promises.
28. Treat people with respect and compassion.
Act lovingly and politely, even when others don't act that way toward me.
29. Live in the now by loving the present and being aware of your thoughts and actions. Think happy thoughts and speak powerful words.
Try to understand myself and be aware of myself as much as possible, while being optimistic and careful with what I decide to say. Don't spout awful tings when upset.
30.Try not to put things off until later.
Set goals and try to fulfill them; do things as soon as I can instead of letting things pile up.
31. Never hold grudges.
Forgive people, even if I can no longer talk to them or be around them for my own mental and/or physical well-being. Try to understand why people do what they do and don't condemn them.
32. Face your fears head on and try to do the things that you think you cannot do.
Do things that I'm afraid of if it could be productive or fun.
33. Spend time with people who make you happy while also not depending on other people for your own happiness.
Be social and try to enjoy it, but make know that only I can make myself happy.
34. Stand up for yourself and others and don’t let anyone or anything hold you back.
Do what I think is right.
35. Be yourself and love who you are now.
Accept myself for how I am and focus on my good aspects.
36. Be a participant in life rather than an observer.
Be active in life and accomplish things and go places instead of just listening to what other people do with their lives.
37. Do the things that you love to do as much as you can.
Spend a lot of time doing activities I like.
38. Write out a list of goals and achieve them by doing them step by step. Don’t give up when things get difficult.
Follow my lists of goals and work hard to complete them.
39. Do something every day that makes you feel proud of yourself—commit random acts of kindness whenever you get the chance.
Do good every day.
40. And always keep on moving forward.
Stay focused on progress instead of dwelling on the past.
